The IEEE was founded in 1963 through the merger of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE) and the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE). Since its establishment, the IEEE has grown into an internationally recognized organization with a deep commitment to fostering advancements in technology across a broad range of verticals.

Boasting more than 395,000 members, the IEEE offers 38 societies, including the Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society and the Vehicular Technology Society, as well as seven technical councils, including the Nanotechnology Council and the Biometrics Council. Additionally, the IEEE publishes nearly 150 journals, magazines, and transactions, and maintains a comprehensive digital library of more than 2 million documents.

IEEE member benefits include access to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, unique networking opportunities, and discounts on various IEEE-sponsored conferences and events. IEEE members also receive exclusive discounts on various insurance packages; home, school, and office products; and travel services.
